This Porter Cable sander looks to be the same product with a different color. The reviews I read on the product lead me to buy this product.
If this was to be used in a commercial environment, I would look for a better made product. The sander works fine.
I had a Craftsman 1/4 sheet sander that the supports for the pad broke. At least it is a service part from Porter Cable "144988-02 FOOT".

It has the same supports for the pad.
(When compared to the circular palm sanders) Also, by using square sheets of paper it is more effective in sanding inside square corners. While this sander performed as good as I had hoped and expected it could have beed designed a bit better by making it easier to insert the sheets of sand paper and by adding a variable speed feature. What I do appreciate is the fact that the replacement paper is quite inexpensive as a person can cut pieces from regular sheets of sandpaper.
I would buy this item again. Super product for the price.easy to hold and does a super job of sanding whatever product you want.
And the sander is terrific. I don't miss the old one at all. My trusty old B&D palm sander died on a Saturday afternoon, and I use it often. It's quieter than my old one, sturdier, and holds the sandpaper better than the B&D. Mike The next afternoon, I ordered the Porter Cable 1/4 sheet palm sander from Amazon, with free 2-3 day shipping. It shipped at 3:00AM Monday and arrived before lunch on Tuesday.
the only thing that I could say that's negative is just that the paper holder is a little primitive seeming. That said, i dont think the mechanism will ever break, so that might be the tradeoff.
Anyway, this seems like a really good value - powerful enough for heavy duty use, yet smooth enough for the finesse needed for fine woodworking. The dust collection seems to work ok - obviously it wont get everything, but i also havent hooked it up to the shop vac either.
pretty good price for something that seems so well made. i dont know) and Im sure it could be designed to be easier.
I am using it for both. the thing is solid, works well, powerful, etc.
It's not HARD to put the paper in, but it doesn't pull the paper taught (should it.
